Reflections from Committee Chair Jonathan Usher
Looking back, we’ve followed a sound process, built around:
- Getting the right people in place to help design and build the project. This consisted of amazing leaders who have so much experience and expertise in the causes and effects of child and family poverty.
- Having an amazing support team to do the actual Mahi, especially the Director, Evaluators and Contractors.
- Having the full support of the Trust board to carve a new path and support the mahi that is being done.
- Understanding that this a long term project and therefore the need to change our thinking about our usual short term funding arrangements and extending these beyond a “normal” term of 2-3 years.
- Allowing plenty of time to reflect and to concentrate on what truly matters, especially in our meetings. It can be easy to get bogged down with proper meeting processes, you must allow time for deep discussions on what truly matters.
